STX Langsten AS
The most powerful offshore vessel ever built – the Far Samson, which has been designed and equipped by Rolls-Royce and buildt at STX Langsten as, entering service with Farstad Shipping of Norway.
Far Samson has demonstrated a continuous bollard pull of 423 tonnes using all available power and more than 377 tonnes using the main propulsion system.
Skameks job consisted of installing the complete propulsion line. It entailed mounting, aligning, startup and control of the engines, gears, bearings, axels and propellers

After the breakdown of Deutz’s main engine our service team traveled to Almeria in southern Spain. Disassembled, cut holes in the hull and had mounted a new shortblock. Simultaneously we carried out a complete engine overhaul of the other main engine. We then followed the ship to the Canary Islands and a DNV approved start-up before returning home.
